Shallow, rich and socially successful Cher (Alicia Silverstone) is at the top of her Beverly Hills high school’s pecking scale. Seeing herself as a matchmaker, Cher first coaxes two teachers into dating each other. Emboldened by her success, she decides to give hopelessly klutzy new student Tai (Brittany Murphy) a makeover. When Tai becomes more popular than she is, Cher realises that her disapproving ex-stepbrother (Paul Rudd) was right about how misguided she was – and falls for him.

So I watched this movie for the millionth time, and have finally decided to write a blog post about it. Clueless is such a classic.

One thing I found really refreshing about it, is that the pretty popular girl isn’t actually mean. Sure, she’s spoilt, and has no concept of money.. but she isn’t mean.

The movie is very funny, but also kind of predictable. …or maybe I just think that because I’ve seen it so much.

I don’t know what it is about girly movies. Sometime you’re just in the mood for a funny, stupid, romantic, teen comedy.

Like Elle in Legally Blonde, you just can’t help but like Cher, even though you know that if you met her in real life you’d probably despise her.

What’s your favourite girly teen movie?

beauty and the beast

Belle (Emma Watson), a bright, beautiful and independent young woman, is taken prisoner by a beast (Dan Stevens) in its castle. Despite her fears, she befriends the castle’s enchanted staff and learns to look beyond the beast’s hideous exterior, allowing her to recognise the kind heart and soul of the true prince that hides on the inside.

So I went to see Beauty and the Beast with a couple of friends a while ago, and I was sadly disappointed.

The movie wasn’t exactly bad… but it wasn’t good either. I found it dragged on a bit, and I kind of just wanted to leave. Having said that, it could just be a personal thing, because I don’t really enjoy musicals.

Even though the movie wasn’t for me, I found fun in laughing with my friend about the logistics of having all the furniture actually be people. Like, what happened to the original furniture? Did they just chuck it out? And the scene where the prince walks out of the castle… he looked like a surfer dude.

Anyway, I can see how people would like this movie, even though I didn’t personally like it that much.

What did you think of Beauty and the Beast?

now or never – halsey

Halsey has just released her new song “Now or Never”!! I’m so happy she’s making new music. This post was going to just be about Halsey, and how good of a role model she is for young girls, but then I remembered her new song, and thought I better do that instead.

Now or Never is kind of good. I say that because I prefer he older songs, but I also believe that this song is almost like a lead up to her older album “Badlands”. This is because at the end of the music video she cuts her long blue hair, and in Badlands she has short blue hair. So it makes sense that this part of the story came first.

The song is clearly about a relationship that hasn’t exactly worked out, like the guy lost interest or something, because she talks him never picking up and never calling.

My theory is that this relationship didn’t work out, and it broke her heart, because they were in love. She then skipped town, cut her hair off, and thats where this chapter ends, and Badlands starts.

I do like this song, but I fear its one that, if overplayed, will become boring and repetitive. Let’s just hope for everyone’s sanity that it doesn’t go mainstream or hit the charts, because then we’ll never stop hearing it.

13 reasons why – season 1

I finished the final episode of 13 Reasons Why, and I need more. How can they just end the show there??

If you haven’t seen this show yet, you need to. It was so sad, but so amazing at the same time. I was absolutely addicted from Episode 1. Yeah, Indy, get addicted to a TV show when you have an essay to memorise and a PE assignment due that same day.

Stay calm, I’m not going to spoil anything if you haven’t reached the end, or haven’t started. If you have no idea what it is, 13 Reasons Why is based on the novel by Jay Asher, and is about the death of a teenage girl, Hannah Baker. But there’s more to the story then one might think.

Hannah Baker leaves behind a series of 13 tapes, 13 reasons as to why she took her own life. She delivered these tapes to the first person, before she committed suicide. The tapes are to go through all 13 people, so they can all understand what they did, and what the other 12 people did to kill Hannah Baker.

This show is absolutely amazing. At first I thought she was stupid for taking her own life over such small things, but as they build up, and get bigger and bigger, you start to understand.

One of the most impactful moments for me, is when she hints and then basically asks for help from the school, and they continue to do nothing. After everything they’ve seen and heard about whats been happening to her, and after she tells them about the very traumatising experience that she had suffered. They do nothing. I think this relates so truly to real life, especially after I’d watched this video about Eva Gutowski, and how she was sexually assaulted in school, and even then, in real life, no one had done anything.

If you haven’t seen 13 Reasons Why you need to. It’ll break your heart, but at the same time you won’t be able to stop watching.
